Frightful Feline Feces Fritters (or Litterbox Cookies)
These realistic er, cookies are perfect for your Halloween festivities, but don’t stop there! They will be a guaranteed showstopper at your next potluck or office party, not to mention an April Fool’s brunch!
Believe it or not, they’re tasty too!
1/2 cup honey
2/3 cup butter or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla or peppermint extract
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup molasses
2/3 cup butter or margerine
2 1/3 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon each ginger, cinnamon, cloves
peanut butter chips
For each type of “poopie,” microwave the honey till it bubbles (about 1 minute). Add the butter and the molasses, if applicable. Add the egg, mix well, then mix in remaining ingredients, except cereal. Add mix-ins of your choice to some or all of the batter, depending on desired colors and textures. Be creative!
Chill 1 hour in the freezer or several hours in the fridge. Roll dough into logs of random length and the diameter of cat poops. Roll logs in cereal and bake at 350 degrees till done (10 to 15 minutes).
Serve in a disposable cat litter box on a bed of cereal, with a cat litter scoop. Melt remaining chocolate chips for that finishing touch. Drizzle in large piles among the cookies, smearing some along the sides of the box. Messy kitty!
This recipe worked especially well at a Halloween party where the table was already decorated with plastic flies.
