Wanda, this is only an attempt to help. I found the salt shaker was removed from our table several years ago. It was withdrawal in full bloom. I've found spices and herbs to be a good substitute for salt in many things. A good deal of research was done for recipes, substitutes, and restaurants - these are our downfall. This site was a wealth of information at one time. As they are revamping the site this weekend, I'm unsure as to what will be found there now. Entering food items would give information on the nutrients of each. Hope it will still be the wealth of information it once was http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/cgi-bin/nut_search_new.pl

Ms Dash is a wonderful alternative Their lemon pepper is great! Grill Mates seasoning has a no salt base and wonderful on steaks, chicken and burgers. I also found a bread recipe for ABM's which was no/low sodium. Morton's NO Salt is a good salt substitute. Even I (the salt Queen) will use this product. Good luck to you! It's a bumpy road, but you can reach your final destination of better health! If it will help, I can dig out my low/no sodium sites and share them with you. Food manufacturers must eventually realize they need not add sodium to EVERYTHING they package. At this time they tend to be very picky in what foods they wish to improve. Seems they must all REMOVE salt rather than ADD to hear their version of the story.

klee, thank you for taking the time to give me this information. I started this way of eating to lose weight,(The Rice Diet Solution) but in the process found out how healthy it is to eat this way. It was such an eye opener to see how bad salt was for us. I never realized the extent of it until I started reading everything I could find on sodium. Every diet I have been on I only looked for and avoided Sugar, but now I have learned that salt is as bad or worse. Salt is the trigger for our cravings and keeps us hungry. Once I started eating between 500 & 1000 grams a day my cravings were gone and I wasn't starving all the time. I even started a forum to keep all this information on. Thanks again for your post and I appreciate your help. Wanda
