1 lb 85% lean ground beef
1-1/4 tsp Old bay seasoning or combination you desire (I use fajita mix)
2 Vidalia onions, sliced
1 T olive oil
salt and pepper
Sauce:
1 cup chili sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 T cider vinegar
1 tsp salt
3/4 cup onions, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
Cheddar cheese
toasted sesame seed buns
lettuce, tomatoe
Prepare the BBQ sauce by combining all of the ingredients into a saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes. Puree the sauce until it is smooth using a food processor or blender. Set aside.
In a bowl, combine the beef with the seasoning. Form into 3 equal patties. Heat the oil on medium in a small saute pan. Season the onions and cook them until they are brown and tender - set aside.
On a grill, cook the burgers until they are medium. Just before they finish cooking, place cheddar cheese slices on the top of each patty and allow them to melt. Place sliced sesame seed buns, cut side down on grill to toast.
Place one burger on each toasted bun. Top with a heap of sauteed onions and a generous amount of barbeque sauce, lettuce and tomatoe. It desired add other toppings like mustard, etc.
