So, we've just moved from the beach in Suthern california to the
high desert in southern california. Quite a change, for sure, but it's
definitely the home I'll grow old in. Giving up the hustle and traffic of Los
Angeles is something I never thought I'd do, but here I am; living in a small
desert community with a total of maybe 20 businesses of various sorts, learning
to burn my own weeds and to plan my grocery trips into town. Adjusting to the
extreme summer heat while preparing for the cold blasts of winter. And loving
every second of it! Who'da thunk? This Labor Day weekend I'm hosting my first
big family party in my new home, and I'm beyond excited about it. The menu will
include a dry rubbed beef brisket, my mom's southern style potato salad, both
white and honey/oat/wheat dinner rolls, roasted corn on the cob, and I'm still
thinking about dessert. I'll be posting the recipes for my menu in the next day
or so. Have I mentioned that I'm really excited? You are here: Have Food, Will Cook > General
