Welcome!

In an effort to be more "with the times" on a technological level, and to be more environmentally friendly, I will be attempting to conduct more of our class on the internet. With this blog, you will be able to access recipes on this page, share recipes with fellow students and comment on activities in our class! Students, teachers, parents and friends will also be able to use this page to check out photos, recipes and all the other exciting things that we do in our Foods classes.

Fruit Lab: Blueberry Crisp

During the fruits unit, students have explored the categories of different fruits, taste tested, studied enzymatic browning, evaluated pesticide use, and now we FINALLY get to consume a yummy fruit dessert.

The following recipe will be prepared by each lab group.

2 c. blueberries, washed
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1/3 c. granulated sugar
1-2 tbsp water
1/3 c. flour
1/3 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
3/4 c. quick cooking rolled oats
4 tbsp. soft butter

Arrange blueberries in deep greased baking dish. Sprinkle with lemon juice and granulated sugar. Pour water over ingredients and mix until the sugar is slightly dissolved.
In separate bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and oats. Cut in butter until mixture is evenly blended and crumbly. Spread mixture on berries and bake at 375 degrees 40-45 minutes. Serve warm.

Makes 5-6 servings.

Stay tuned to our class blog, we will soon be adding a variety of delicious smoothie recipes :)
