Blue Ribbon Chili 3-3-12 (Deer Chili)
We had a lot of deer meat left over, and Kevin has been craving deer chili, but no one has given me a recipe for deer chili (even though I've asked for one
. So I
went on all recipes.com and found this recipe for chili with beef and subbed
deer meat.
Ingredients: 2 lbs. ground beef (I used deer meat); 1/2 onion, chopped (I used a medium sized onion); 1 t. ground black pepper (I did this to-taste); 1/2 t. garlic salt (I did this to taste); 2 1/2 c. tomato sauce; 1 (8oz) jar salsa; 4T. chili seasoning mix (I bought one bag of original chili mix and a bag of hot, and used the whole bag of hot b/c we didn't think it had enough flavor, and about 1/2 of the bag of original); 1 (15oz) can light red kidney beans; 1 (15oz) can dark red kidney beans
Directions: In a large sauce pan over medium-heat, combine the ground beef and onion and saute for 10 mins, or until meat is browned and onion is tender. Drain grease. Add the ground black pepper, garlic salt, tomato sauce, salsa, chili seasoning mix, and kidney beans. Mix well; reduce heat to low and simmer for at least an hour. Calories: 480
