Cheddar Bay Biscuits 11-24-11
O...M...G...these are sooooo good! Words cannot express how delicious these biscuits are--you just have to make them for yourself!! I made them Thanksgiving day at our house in the hill country & I know it was love at first bite. I ate one for breakfast the next morning too.
Biscuits: 2 1/2 c. Bisquick; 4T cold butter; 1 c. cheddar cheese, shredded; 3/4 c. milk; 1/4t. garlic powder
Butter Glaze: 3T butter; 1/2t. garlic powder; 3/4t. dried parsley flakes
Directions: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Lightly grease or line one cookie sheet w/ parchment; set aside. Combine Bisquick w/ cold butter in a medium bowl using a pastry cutter or 2 forks (I was confused by this being a beginner. I just kind of grabbed 2 forks and went to town mixing hoping it would be ok). Don't worry about mixing too thoroughly (thank the lord for that), there will be small chunks of butter in the mix about the size of peas. Add cheddar cheese, milk, and garlic powder. Mix by hand until combined, but don't over mix. Drop 1/4 c. portions of the dough onto the lightly greased or parchment lined cookie sheet. Bak for 13-15 mins in preheated oven until the tops of the biscuits begin to turn light brown. While the biscuits are baking, melt butter in a small bowl in the microwave. Stir in garlic powder and dried parsley flakes. Use a brush to spread the garlic butter over the tops of all the biscuits (I just got a spoon and spooned it over them). Sprinkle a little kosher salt on the freshley coated biscuits. Makes one dozen.
