Hi! my name is Jo Dhesi I am 23 years old and just moved to Hoboken NJ for work
all the way from Ohio. I went to Ohio State and now am a business consultant to
pharmacies - not too much in common with food or cooking. One of my biggest
passions since I was little is cooking. I was never good at drawing or singing
or anything really creative, except when I started experimenting with food.
(Well I bought myself a dslr for a graduation gift so I will be trying to show
off some food photography too).
My dad passed away when I was nine and my mom and sister had to work a lot after the unexpected event. So I would try to help around the house and try to cook so when they got home they had something to eat that wasn't just boxed foods. I started experimenting with using different seasonings like herbs and spices (I come from an Indian family, so there was always a variety) to enhance the flavors of the dish and make it sorta special.
I then started to look up recipes online after the first few I made, they felt artificial to me because I didn't get to put my own mark on the them. That's I started looking up recipes for inspirations and not really guidelines (I will however post recipes on my blog - no worries) - I felt like I now had a true outlet to creativity!
Until I was high school I just cooked from whatever my mom brought home from the grocery store, and I really didn't have too much of an input. I then started driving and really discovered the amazing opportunities our modern day grocery stores have to offer. There are some really cool items out there that make fancy cooking so easy and accessible.
So What you will get from me is great recipes that come from typical items found in the grocery store - however some of them you would have never used before. I promise you - you wont dread going to the grocery store anymore!!
