My Update

The good news is, I haven't gained a single pound in these couple of weeks that I haven't posted. The bad news is, I haven't lost either.

I unfortunately have been putting in massive hours at work - so I've just been too exhausted to work out, post here, and do anything fun.

One of our offices was in New Orleans (yes, WAS). Hurricane Katrina did a little number on it. Fortunately, no one from the office was hurt in any way - one woman lost her home (it was a rental though so at least she doesn't have to deal with THAT mess) but the other 3 were left pretty unscathed - a few broken windows I guess.

Our office itself was pretty much demolished. The funny part is (well, funny depending how you look at it) they moved that office about a month before the hurricane. The old location - not a scratch - new location, gone bye bye.

In the days leading up to the hurricane's landfall, the staff in that office packed up necessary files, scanned in documents to upload to our HQ servers, and made backups of everything. They had a hurricane plan, and stuck to it.

However, you know what they say about the best laid plans....

*The scans weren't checked before they were uploaded. You wouldn't believe how crazy some of them turned out. About 3/4ths of them were useless. about 1/4th of them have fingers and hands in them. One has part of a face? Gotta love office interns.

*5 of the boxes of packed up documents (vital financial info) somehow got left on the loading dock- while the coffee maker and office plants made it in the vehicles and to safety.

And this is the best of all...

*One woman in the office backed up her files to the HQ server. She zipped them up nicely - just as she was supposed to do. There were 47 directories zipped up. Somehow she managed to password protect them all - and didn't bother to write down or memorize any of the 47 DIFFERENT passwords she entered. Yup, 47 directories no one can access. Again, rather vital info. We still can't figure out WHY she password protected them. Did she think Katrina was going to hack into the system?

So, I've spent quite a few hours helping to get that office back on track. The employees evacuated about 10 hrs away to a bed and breakfast of one of their relatives! It's been turned into a temporary office.

Wow, quite a ramble with no talk of food. I better get this post back on track!!

I hope everyone has been eating healthy - I haven't done too badly, but I could be doing better. The office has been ordering in each night for those of us working late (if I even smell pizza one more time I think I'll gag) but I've been good and going to the deli a couple of blocks down and getting salads or healthy sandwiches. I haven't had time for workouts, but hopefully in another week I'll be caught up. I'm making some hard-boiled eggs right now so I can take those to work as a snack. (i'm going in at 4 today so I can work late on the master files when no one else is using them).
