When the table is lovely, the candles are lit, and the music is playing softly
in the background...you could be eating pheasant under glass or cheese
sandwiches - it's the atmosphere and the company that really counts.
While men may be interested in satisfying their appetites...women are more interested in the conversation and how everything looks. Whether either realizes it or not, what occurs after dinner is very often a direct result of the mood created during the meal, itself. When it comes to romance, the lighting, the decor, the sounds, all of these are as important as what is actually on the plate. Certain foods are noted for being 'mood' altering. There are stories about love and oysters...black olives...and especially chocolate...but, most people will tell you that it was the conversation and over-all experience that made it a romantic dinner.
Most of us just want to be appreciated and listened to. Everyone wants to know that they are important to someone else. What better way to show your appreciation for the one you love, than by feasting your eyes on them...and drinking in every word they say. It isn't that hard to do...and the rewards can be more than worth it!
So, this Valentine's Day, try to remember that flowers, chocolates, lighting and music are the appetizers - the one you love is the main entree - and who knows what might be for dessert!
