I use packaged mixes, but I'm sure it would be all that much better from
scratch.
1 package cake mix
1 6oz box Jell-o
1 C boiling water
1/2 C cold water
Prepare cake mix according to directions in a 9x13 pan. Cool 1 hour.
Mix Jell-O with 1 C boiling water. Add cold water. Set aside.
Meanwhile (using the back ind of a wooden spoon), poke holes all over the cake 1 inch apart.
Pour Jell-O slowly over cake and chill until set. (1 hour)
This is a great dessert to experiment with. Our favorite is white cake mix and (Sugar Free) Peach Jell-O. Or Chocolate Cake mix with Cherry Jell-O. Both are best topped with Whipped Cream or ice cream. We even like them with regular ol' frosting (yup, from a can)
Hint: before frosting I cut the cake in half and freeze part for later.
