POPCORN BALLS

8-10 c. popcorn, popped
1 (3 oz) box of Jell-O gelatin any flavor
1 tbs. light corn syrup
3 tbs. water
3/4 c. granulated sugar
1 stick butter or margarine

Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Spread popcorn on a lightly greased large cookie sheet or 9 x13 baking dish. Put in oven to keep warm. In a saucepan, melt butter and add gelatin, corn syrup, water and sugar. Heat to a boil and while stirring constantly, cook for 4 minutes (To test: drop a small amount into a cup of ice water, and if it forms a firm gelled ball its ready). Remove popcorn from oven and evenly drizzle gelatin mixture over popcorn. Fold with spatula to coat. Return to oven for 5 more minutes; then stir again to completely coat popcorn. Return to oven another 5 minutes if necessary to make it easier to stir. Then turn on to a sheet of foil or wax paper; Let cool slightly; just enough to handle. Lightly coat hands with oil and form into balls. Let cool completely then individually wrap in plastic wrap. Store in a cool, dry place.
