BUTTERMILK BISCUITS

2 c. all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbs. baking powder
1 tbs. sugar
1 stick cold butter
3/4 c. buttermilk (more or less to moisten dough)
additional melted butter

Combine the first 4 ingredients in a large bowl or stand mixer. Slice cold butter into pats and cut into butter mixter or use flat paddle in stand mixer until fine and crumbly. Slowly add buttermilk until blended into flour mixture but do not over mix. Turn dough out onto a floured surface. Lightly knead 6 to 8 times and pat dough out into 3/4 inch thickness. Cut with round biscuit cutter and place in a buttered baking dish; sides touching. Brush tops with melted butter. Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for about 20 to 25 minutes or until done (baking time may vary depending on oven and type of pan used)
