Greetings from the Allegheny National Forest!

I've used many of the recipes I've found on the internet over the years. Some of them have even become family favorites and 'must haves' at each of our gatherings. When I'm in a pinch for "how to's" or just need something new or different to make, quite often I pay Robbie's Recipe Collection a visit, or spend a little time at Recipe Source checking out the vast collection of recipes there.

As for 'me', my experience with cooking started as a tot on a fruit and vegetable farm along the Lake Erie shore, obviously many moons ago by now. All of the elder women on both sides of my family were/are wonderful cooks (and very different in tastes and methods!). Later, I went on to work in the hotel/restaurant industry, mostly in management, so I was pretty much "stuck with food" for a good many years.

As I grew older, cooking in my own kitchen became a wonderful and relaxing "hobby" for me. I cook and/or bake every day now and we entertain a bit here at the cabin, so I don't think I'll be reviewing many restaurants on this weblog. I only 'dabble' in gourmet type cooking myself, because what my family and I love is good stick-to-yer-ribs food.

If you do as well, I hope you'll visit again and come back often!

Hi there cabinlady! Nice to meet you! What a great intro - your life sounds very enriched from growing up around great cooks! BTW - if you like recipesource, try http://www.massrecipes.com (it's run by the same people who do this site and gets new recipes all the time where recipesource died a few years ago but is still good for basics)

I look forward to reading your blog!

Thanks, Jess, for the warm welcome! I checked out the Mass Recipes link, and then noticed it was right here on the link list, too. lol

I already found a recipe I want to try on that site, honey whole wheat bread. Today's certainly a good day to try it out. It's chilly today in these hills and feels like Fall!

BTW, I paid a visit to your blog earlier today, but the comments were being ornery with me and wouldn't let me post. lol I'll check back soon.
