Grilled Blackened Chicken

Instead of having a boring hamburger or hot dog at your BBQ, why not have blackened chicken. Blackened chicken has tons of spices and is full flavor. You can cut it up and place into a wrap or make a sandwich out of it. This poultry dish is very versatile and everyone will love it. This recipe is very easy to make and leaves little mess to be cleaned up.

Ingredients:

1-teaspoon paprika (preferably sweet paprika)
1/4-teaspoon salt

3/4-teaspoon chili powder
1/2-teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2-teaspoon dried oregano (2 teaspoons fresh oregano)
1/2-teaspoon ground cumin
1/2-teaspoon dried thyme (2 teaspoons fresh thyme)
1/4-teaspoon ground white pepper (black pepper is acceptable too)
1/4-teaspoon onion powder
1/2-teaspoon garlic powder
4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves

Preparation:

The first thing that you need to do is heat up the grill or the oven (both cooking techniques work well), pan searing the chicken is ok but it is hard to do if making for a larger group of people. Heat the oven or grill to 350-375 degrees. Then mix all of the dry ingredients together and coat the chicken pieces on the top and bottom. Then all you have to do is place the chicken on the grill or in the oven on a baking sheet. Cook for around 6 minutes on either side, depending on the thickness of the chicken breast that you are using. After that take the chicken off and serve in any way that you want. If desired, this spice mixture can be used to coat fish or other meats.
