Allow me to
introduce myself and explain my goals for this blog. I love trying new things in
the kitchen, even though my hubby is not adventurous about food and my toddler
could care less, as long as it's edible. The foods I enjoy to prepare are heavy,
fat-laden, southern foods. Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, collard
greens in bacon grease, that sort of thing. And desserts.
However, my rear end has grown considerably since leaving the Army and taking on
stay-at-home mommyhood, so these things must be relegated to special event
status. In there place I must prepare things like salads, and chicken, and the
dreaded fish. I'm southern. Fish comes in one variety - fried. Now I must learn
to do things with fish that do not involve a deep fryer. It's a depressing
thought, but I'm sure my blood pressure will thank me later.
Everything I cook will not be "health food." But I will try to eat in a more
healthful manner than I'm accustomed. A girl's gotta start somewhere...
