My mom usually cooks her cornbeef then tops it with this glaze and bakes it. My family loves cornbeef and cabbage. With the leftovers we make cornbeef hash. But, again there is usually none left!!

February 24, 2007, 6:42 pm
This was a recipe someone submitted in our school cookbook. Someone told me to try it. I am not a bean person. But it was great. With busy schedules I decided to add hotdogs to the top of it and made biscuits (from can of course) and it was a great one pot meal. Enjoy.

Pops pepper steak
February 23, 2007, 7:01 pm
This is the real deal. Pop was from the filipino. He was a cook on the merchant marines. Then became a chef for many big time hotels in NYC as in Waldorf, four seasons and several others. We would walk in the house and your mouth would just water and you would open the pot and low and behold there would be fish heads bobbing. He made the best adobe EVER I never got his recipe before he passed. However I did get his pepper steak step by step. Pop was married to my moms best friend.

Aunt Sis's Hamburg Goulash
February 17, 2007, 3:35 pm
My family makes the real deal when it comes to Hungarian Goulash. When I say I am making Goulash and he sees this. The rest of the house gets a forever lecture. We call it AKA American Goulash. Our Aunt who has recently passed use to make this for us when we would come to visit. My children would always request this. They loved this with crusty bread. No matter how much I make it is gone. I am giving her recipe, but you can adjust everything to your way and liking. I use sauce.

Sloppy Joe's
February 14, 2007, 4:37 pm
I WAS NEVER A FAN OF SLOPPY STUFF AND BY THE WAY WHO NAMED THEM JOE? I GUESS JOE WAS A SLOB. WELL, NO SLOBBING AT MY TABLE. INSIDE JOKE. BUT WE DO NEED LOTS OF NAPKINS WITH THIS. AS I SAID I NEVER GREW UP EATING THIS STUFF.MY MOM MADE INCREDIBLE MEALS AND IF MOM WAS NOT COOKING THEN DAD WAS THE MASTER CHEF. I HAD AMAZING MEALS GROWING UP. I WAS VERY BLESSED. I GUESS WHEN I HAD ALWAYS TASTED SLOPPY JOES THEY HAD A LOT OF MUSTARD IN IT. I AM NOT A HUGE FAN OF MUSTARD. THIS RECIPE WON ME OVER. NOT ONLY DO I SERVE THIS HEAPED ON A GREAT BUN I SLATHER ON SOME EXTRA BUTTER TOP IT ON WITH SOME GRATED CHEESE AND FOR ME I LOAD IT UP WITH SOME POTOTO CHIPS. NOW THAT IS A SLOPPY SANDWICH.

My Sauce and Meatballs & Baba's Meatloaf & Haggie Buger or Salisbury Steaks
February 14, 2007, 2:36 pm
This started to be just my Italian gravy. But I had all my other recipes on it for meatloaf, meatballs and salisbury steak so it all got posted together. I got this recipe from a sweet co worker Phil. I changed it a little bit. I am sure everyone has their version but again this is Phil’s recipe and I just love it. Included in it is my grandmother’s meatloaf recipe that is flawless time and time again. When I do the meatballs I puree the onions and the garlic it really flavors the sauces and adds so many flavors to the meatballs and the meat does not fall apart from the chunks. She also use to make hamburgers from it. I could never pronounce hamburgers when I was little so she use to call them Haggie burgers as I pronounced them.

Easy Beef Stew
May 22, 2006, 6:11 pmEasy Dish Beef recipe was given to my mother by a customer. I was a little girl and I am 44 and I am still making this! This is served with a simple salad over noodles. For the Amish touch we now serve the stew over noodles on the mashed potatoes. This is made in a crock pot or can be made covered in a casserole dish. Simply with beef and three cans of soup. It makes the best gravy. I hope you enjoy this as we have for years.
