Hawaiian Chocolate Macadamia Nut Bars
July 29, 2007, 8:43 am
This cookie bar has another version of buttery, nutty crust like the Rhubarb Meringue bars, but then goes the way of carmel and dark chocolate. They are the speciality of the Aloha Angel Cafe on Hawaii's Big Island. These too are rich, and will go far. You will want to remember to add these to the Christmas cookie list and be prepared for them to fly off the plate!

This is a great make ahead light and low fat dessert that is great during the hot months served with ice cream. Bake it in the morning before the heat of the day, and it will not overheat the house since your oven is only on for 30 minutes. Keep it light by serving with a reduced fat or sugar ice cream or yogurt.

Paula Deen's Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler
July 4, 2007, 9:56 am
Paula said this easy cobbler is almost as good as the from scratch cobbler they serve at the Lady & Sons Restaurant in Savannah. I've never been there, but I know this has become a quick, delicious family favorite. Even better with some home churned ice cream! This would also be a great dessert for a camping trip. You can combine the dry ingredients in plastic bags, and just do the rest of the assembly in the camper!
