Our friend Pat who dances in a couple of our clubs brought these cookies to me when I was in the hospital. They were delicious -- tasty, crisp, and had been made with a cinnamon sugar topping (instead of icing).

This reclipe sounds like a winner -- found it while looking up Pennsylvania Dutch recipes online. In any case, I'll report back on how it tastes after I try it with the season's bounty of peaches.

The "When Life Gives You Lemons" Caper (Lemon Bars)
February 4, 2007, 6:43 pm
Last week my Master Gardener class (and all the veteran MGs who were available) had a potluck lunch. Well, these folks are extremely good cooks, so I felt that I needed something that would be received as at least adequate in their eyes. A few days before, Dale gave me a load of lemons, so that became the theme I was going to work with. Click on the title above to get to the full recipe.

Ginger Snaps
December 13, 2006, 9:35 pmThese ginger snaps aren't as sweet as versions targeted toward children. They make excellent crisp dipping cookies to serve with coffee or tea, and they're addictive.

Maria's Fried Ricotta Puffs
March 18, 2006, 10:23 am
These are really amazing! Maria makes them at holiday time -- we eat them for breakfast on Christmas day and the protein in these things carries us to Christmas dinner without feeling hungry. This recipe originally came from Sunset magazine.

This is the recipe I got from our friend Lois - it makes a small batch of apple crisp. It's fragrant and tastes wonderful!

Plum and Pluot Cobbler
September 28, 2005, 4:19 pm
What to do with plums and pluots when they're in season? Cobble them! YUM!
I picked up some plums and pluots at the neighborhood hole-in-the-wall produce store. We're planning on making plum/pluot butter with some tomorrow or this weekend, but I had some that weren't going to last beyond yesterday, so I searched for cobbler recipes.
Since I can't eat plum skins, skinning the fruit took much extra work, but the result was wonderful.
