Homemade Pizza, Bane of My Existence

For years I've been trying to come up with a really good alternative to pizzaria pizza. It's definitely no easy feat (particularly without a good commercial pizza oven).

Here's what we like. I've adapted what seems like a zillion recipes from a variety of sources to come up with something we actually enjoy.

Cabinlady's Marinara

There are so many spaghetti and marinara sauce recipes out there it's hard to tell which recipe you *might* like the best. Here is the "core" recipe I've used for a lot of years, but then again, it depends on whose (picky icon_wink ) apetite I'm catering to! Nearly always, I serve marinara over thin spaghetti, with a side salad and fresh garlic rolls or bread, and a small bowl per person of freshly grated parmesan, romano, or a combination. For the Love of Corn

Buffalo (NY) Chicken Wing Dip

I've had this recipe for a while. A quick search of it on the internet uncovered several sites on which the same recipe is posted. I'm a native western NY'er, and I can attest to the fact that this dip does indeed taste like "Buffalo Chicken Wings". You can substitute any bottled hot sauce you like in this recipe, but it's better, of course, with Frank's hot sauce, not that we NY'er's are set in our ways or biased or anything. icon_wink

Lemon Squares

These are always such a hit at holiday and other family gatherings (especially where my dad is concerned!) This bar cookie is one I always include in my Christmas cookie and candy packages to offset so much chocolate. icon_lol

"Short Cut" Chicken Noodle Casserole

For some reason, this quickie casserole goes over very well around here. You won't see me posting "out of the box or can" recipes too often. I only make something like this when I'm really in a hurry, and I do admit it's pretty darn tasty. icon_wink

Apple Bread

It's that time of year in the northeastern states. Apples everywhere! This wonderful quick bread is good warm or cold, but we like it best fresh out of the oven with lots of butter. icon_wink

Blond Brownies (or, Blondies)

This is my "take" on the traditional Blondies bar cookie. These don't last long at my house! I think these are my favorite to make because they're darn near as effortless to make as they are delicious!
